In today's T'dad Guardian Judy Raymond has a good profile of Patrick French, V.S. Naipaul's "authorised, though independent" biographer, who's been in T'dad for about a week & a half researching Naipaul's early life, interviewing his relatives, friends, & associates, & generally trying to understand the mad little island Sir Vidia was born on.
